On Wednesday 15 October six Barnsley Academy students, accompanied by Mr Yates, took part in the NEEP (Northern Way Enterprise in Education Programme) Enterprise Fair at the home of Leeds United Football Club, Elland Road.
36 schools were represented, from Yorkshire and the Humberside, each displaying ways in which they had used Enterprise Funding in their school.
There was a fantastic variety of activities on show; however, it was our own Enterprise "Air Academy" that won a top prize along with a cheque for £500 for the school. Air Academy is the Academys very own radio station using the state of the art Synergy Radio Studio.
Students from Barnsley Academy beamed as their photo was taken with the sponsors at the conclusion of the day.
Each had represented the Barnsley Academy exceptionally well, speaking confidently to students, staff from other schools, visitors and, of course, the judges who put each school through their paces.
A massive congratulations from Mr Yates Head of Music, to those students, as well as all staff and students who have been involved in "Air Academy" over the last year, which includes: all the form groups and tutors who have put hard work into shows, school staff who have taken part in interviews and other radio features and children from our primary schools who have made shows with us.
Mr Yates added "As Air Academy goes into a new phase of operation after half-term break; it is gratifying to have this recognition for our journey so far".
