Why School Radio?
In a age where new technologies are readily accessible and there is so much choice as to how we spend our time, listening to the radio still ranks as one of the highest leisure pursuits in the UK.
Over 90% of the population listen to the radio for at least five minutes every week. Despite the warnings of ‘video killed the radio star’, this century old medium continues to grow and evolve, it is quite simply, all around us.
Owning a school radio station provides a unique opportunity for your school. Taking students away from the conventional methods of classroom based learning, radio opens up a new way to approach the curriculum though a series of fun, hands-on and highly stimulating activities that younger generations enjoy and can relate to.

So, How Does It All Work?
Irrespective of a radio stations size or format, the process required to create a radio show are the same and follow these four steps; Acquisition, Production, Scheduling and Broadcast.
Synergy and S-RADIO packages come complete with a full suite of software modules designed specifically to meet the needs of both classroom and professional radio broadcasters. With a modern look and feel offering an intuitive design and operation, radio has never been so engaging or achievable.
Designed for Success
Synergy and S-RADIO studios have been designed through extensive and continual research into how radio broadcasting can be effectively used within an education environment. As a result, key design features are tailored to the learning needs of pupils and help prevent possible technological pitfalls of implementing similar projects, using traditional commercial technology.
The Ultimate All-in-One
What makes Synergy and S-RADIO so state-of-the-art is that their software, hardware, training and support are all designed, manufactured and delivered by the same company, Clyde Broadcast Products
Traditional radio broadcast technologies are designed to be operated by studio engineers and technically proficient DJ’s. For this reason, many radio presenters have a technical assistant to help them ‘drive’ the mixer, placing the presenter in another room, with simply a microphone, guests and a script.
Clyde Broadcast’s revolutionary approach to building all-in-one radio studios, has enabled users for the first time, of any age or ability to take the ‘hot seat’ and be responsible for a complete radio show within an extremely short period of time. This results in the pupils taking ownership of the project and helps to make your radio station a popular and sustainable investment.
Scheduling Made Simple!
For years, scheduling has been a time consuming and solitary task. Scheduling is often seen to be a very specialist role within a radio station, with programme managers being one of the highest paid employees within many radio stations.
With Synergy and S-RADIO, Scheduling is different!
Synergy School Radio realise how important scheduling your radio show is to how sustainable your radio project will be. That’s why our Scheduler can be taught in just 5-10 minutes! It is extremely simple to learn, intuitive and because our software and hardware are all the same brand, it is designed to perform many advanced tasks that software when used with a mixing desk from a different manufacturer, often costing three times the price, cannot achieve!
Both educational and commercial versions of our scheduling software are available. Synergy and S-RADIO packages are pre-installed with the education version and once your project is off the ground and you would like to take radio radio to the next level, we can upgrade your software to the professional version free of charge.
Many Hands Make Light Work
Workstation licenses are the perfect addition for any school wanting to replicate a true, commercial broadcast environment.
Workstation licenses enable the acquisition, production and scheduling process to take place over your network. Installing the Production and Scheduling Modules on additional computers, networked to the radio station will dramatically increase workflow and enable different groups to work simultaneously.
The additional licenses can also be used as a training aid for the DJ’s, enabling students to practise their radio shows before they are broadcast.
