The Radio takeover has begun at Bells Farm Primary School. We love radio and we love what we are able to do using our School Radio studio from Synergy.
Bells Farm Primary School are fortunate enough to be able to buy a complete, digital, radio station from Clyde Broadcasting. Since instillation we have used the radio station each and every week; from Year 1 through to Year 6. Staff and some children have been trained to operate the radio station and now do so with confidence.
Radio helps develop some of the key skills required in every primary school students development. It promotes creativity and helps develop speaking and listening skills from year 1 through to year 7. What is more our students love being able to produce their lessons on the Internet.
We mainly use the radio station for the sharing of quality work which has been completed in class. Reading their work into a live mic gives the children a sense of enormous pride and satisfaction. This also enables the teachers to assess speaking and listening across the curriculum.
A Radio Club has been set-up with basic skills being taught and practised after school. This has proven so popular that it is well over-subscribed.
Having a series of speakers which run across the school and playground enables us to broadcast our achievements to the all corners of the site; for pupils, parents and staff. This facility also proved to be successful when broadcasting the announcement and ‘Last Post’ for Remembrance Day.
We are pleased and proud to have such a magnificent facility as part of our school environment.
